Doll Show Dolls

Are these fantastic or what??? These lovely dolls were made by my friend and fellow doll lover, Andrea, of "Wildflower Dolls". ( the link is in my list ) She has a unique process of making a molded head, which she designed, then paints it and adds the hair, then adds it to a fashion doll body. She made me proud by asking for outfits from my line of clothes. Fashions and dolls together makes these truly One-Of-A-Kind beauties. Click on the images to get a closer look.

Andy will be showing her dolls at a couple of shows in October and December, yes, wearing my clothes! Cool. I hope to go too since it isn't that far from me. I'll post more information on them later. For now I just want to say I feel so honored. Thank you Andy!

Bring on the SNOW!!!

I wish you could "feel" how pretty this is. It is so soft, almost like fur. This is a perfect winter coat. You can find this set in my Etsy store now.

Peach Passion

The color is very yummy! Love the leg warmers scrunched around the ankle... I think I'll make me some! The green-apple color buttons just seemed to be the right choice to give the pizazz factor. All sweaters that have buttons really button into tiny buttonholes. My model is also wearing a pair of my black skinny pants. Bring on the cooler weather!

Ski Bunny

Making these sets are so much fun. My model is wearing her "hemp" bikini and she looks like she is getting ready for the "bikini sking" event. The hat a leg warmers are knitted with multiple needles to eliminate seams. I love the leg warmers scrunched down around the ankles too. The hat fits bot the My Scene and regular Barbie heads. I will be selling these sets in my Etsy shop soon. Look for new listings September 1st.

Lovely Lavender

I just love this set. The doll has a tight bun of hair under the hat. I cropped the sweater and made it more fitted. Every doll should have a sweater or two, don't you think?

Cooler Days...YAY!!

Can't think when it is so hot! So you would think that sweaters would be the last thing on my list to make, huh? Well, Fall is coming and my Barbies must be ready!

This is a Shout Out!

For those of you that live in the Vancouver area, or any of you that plan to visit, I highly recommend a wonderful little restaurant for the best Japanese cooking in town.

"Katsura Japanese Restaurant"

It is small and easy to miss, kind of hidden behind Elmer's, north of Mill Plain on Chkalov Dr. The actual address is: 330 NE Chkalov Dr. Ste C. Look for the sign that says "Sushi".

Michael Okayama is the owner, don't let the name fool you, he is half Japanese, and he and his wife, Keiko, run it as a team. Michael trained for 8 years in Japan to master his craft, and boy! Oh boy! he IS good at it. From the first day I accidentally found their lovely little place, I have been a fan and love to shout out praises to them.

They are generous and honest and genuinely a wonderful couple. It shows in their hospitality and friendly manner and most importantly in the quality they maintain in both food and service.

It will truly be a treat and you will not be disappointed. You might see me there because I go every chance I get!!

What Next???

Did you know Barbie's best friend, Midge, is expecting her second child? I didn't know she was having the first one!! Someone thought this was a good idea but doing the research on this doll, I found there was a huge controversy that ended with it being pulled from the shelves before it had time to collect dust. Really, it is the most natural of events, I mean, Midge did marry her boyfriend, Alan, before getting pregnant, and of course, it would be normal for a "married" couple to start a family. The only thing un-natural is that it is a "doll"! But there are parents that do not want to expose their children to learning about the "birds and the bees" by means of a pregnant doll, married or not. It puts them in the position to still have to explain "how". Still, personally, I think it is clever and weird and when I saw the doll I had to have one. So, here she is. I sure would be interested in your thoughts on the subject...

I'm Having Too Much FUN!!!

I like this blogging thing! I discovered how to add music. I hope you like my selection. Some you might not know or remember or haven't heard in a long time. All are favorites of mine and bring back many good memories. Stay awhile and enjoy.

I'm sending out a package to my friend Andrea, (aka Andy) of Andysrascals and Wildflowerdolls, tomorrow. She has a couple of doll show coming up in October and November and she honors me with wanting her lovely dolls wear my designs. Is that cool or what??

I'm surprising her with an extra something. I won't tell her unless she reads my blog! heehee...

I so appreciate the comments from all that take the time to look at my designs. It would be really nice if once you choose to "hate it" "like it" or "love it", that you would leave a note to explain why. It would help me to improve what I do.

Everything I do is truly handmade and from scratch. I have few standard patterns, I have made, that I follow. Different things inspire me, a beautiful doll, a great fabric, even an amazing color. I will work at something until it looks like what I see in my mind.

I recently sold a few bikinis to a lady in Australia, who was very honest with me. Although she loved the suits she did point out some flaws that I now take special care of so that my future suits will not have the same problem. The flaw was some fraying on the ends of the elastic "strings" that I didn't consider happening. Thank you Donna for your honesty and help. I now take special care to seal the ends to prevent fraying.

So please help me improve my art. Thank you.
